Peckforton Castle is a wonderful place just to stay in – but it’s also a great base for a wide range of exciting and enjoyable things to do.

Choose from exploring the picturesque surrounding areas to visiting a sporting spectacular or taking advantage of the Castle’s special offerings including falconry and Landrover driving. Here’s just a selection of what’s available; there are more suggestions available at reception.

Landrover Experience (advance booking required)

This is your chance to experience exactly what a Landrover can do – and in beautiful countryside, not crowded city streets! Our fleet located within the Castle walls includes a Defender, Range Rover, Discovery, Range Rover Sport and a Freelander. You can drive one of these vehicles just for fun, or get expert tuition to take your skills up a gear.

Falconry Encounters

Get up close and personal with some of Britain’s most stunning birds of prey. Click here for more information on this unforgettable experience, based in the Castle grounds.

Chester Zoo

Fifteen miles away and 25 minutes by car, the Zoo offers a stimulating and enjoyable day out for everyone. Chester Zoo has over 500 species of animals, award-winning gardens and first-class facilities.

Cheshire Workshops

Just five miles away, 10 minutes by car or 45 minutes by foot along the Sandstone Trail, you can see candle workshops and other crafts at Burwardsley, Tattenhall, near Chester.

Oulton Park

The famous race circuit is nine miles from the Castle, and hosts Formula 3, British Superbike and touring car racing.

Blue Planet

Britain’s largest aquarium attraction is at Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port, 18 miles away.

Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

Sample over 30 award-winning and irresistible real dairy ice creams and sorbets – and let your children work off their energy in "Crazy Daisy's" indoor adventure play barn, meet the animals and even watch the cows being milked. Located at Tattenhall.

Cheshire Fishing

Also near Tattenhall at the foot of the beautiful Peckforton Hills, Cheshire Fishing is the premier trout and coarse fishery in the north-west. Its extensive and regularly stocked trout and coarse lakes are fed by pure spring water and offer exceptional fishing for anglers of all ages and abilities.

Beeston Castle

Only one mile away, this English Heritage site has fantastic panoramic views of Cheshire, Beeston and Tarporley. The site holds 4,000 years of history: from Bronze Age settlement and Iron Age hill fort to the castle itself which was begun in 1225.
