5 Day Intensive

This course is designed for people contemplating getting a bird of prey for themselves. In many respects ,this is mainly designed with Harris Hawks in mind and are therefore used for the majority of the course outline but is structured to cover all the major points in the art of falconry. Similar to the 3 day but with an extra 2 days, other aspects can also be included. In addition to what is incorporated into the 3 day course (please see 3 Day Intensive), other training includes:

Telemetry training
Hunting and field-craft
Lure swinging
Working and flying different species
Imping and moulting

Once paid for, this course can be split into 2 segments. We have found that if the whole 5 days are taken as one full week, it can sometimes be a bit overwhelming to be able to digest all the information given. Also, if you have done your course at the start of the season and you aren’t getting your bird until towards the end, then a lot of the information can be lost by the time it needs to be called on. This is why we also offer a split of a 3 day early in the season, where all the basics can be covered including: accommodation, equipment, species suitability, law and legislation, etc. This then gives time to accrue the required equipment and housing before purchasing the bird. Then, closer to the time of the purchase of the bird, the other 2 days can be booked, so the initial handling techniques and essential skills for starting the training of your new bird are fresh in your mind. Plus, if timed right, the new bird can be incorporated into the course and the best results therefore achieved.
