Meet The Animals

Come and visit our collection of exotic animals here at Peckforton Castle and treat someone special with the opportunity to get up close to some of the world’s most lovable animals. Your visit will comprise of meeting and getting ‘hands on’ with around 4 or 5 different species, finishing with exercising one of our free flying birds of prey within the stunning setting of the Castle.

To start the session you will be greeted by one of our experienced keepers who will give you a quick introduction to the animals whilst giving you some advice on how to handle or feed your new furry friends. Then the fun begins! Meet Miko our cheeky racoon who is a real water baby. Just remember to keep one eye on your pockets, as he does have very dexterous hands!

Then there’s our pair of prairie dogs…considering these guys don’t look like they could move that quickly, one of them will be up your trouser leg before you know it! They do LOVE a cuddle though and once in your lap you’ll experience how much they enjoy the fuss and attention.

The crazy meerkats are always a big favourite and our hand tamed ones certainly love having their bellies rubbed and under their chin tickled. You’ll never want to put them down after spending time with these cheeky mammals.

There’s also our African pygmy hedgehogs to befriend. Who thought that these spiky little critters would enjoy being stroked and petted? But once they have settled on your open hand, they drop their spikes down and start to investigate the new sights of sounds of a new person and will be more than happy to let you stroke them.

These are just but a few of the animals in our collection. We have other animals and an extensive bird of prey collection here at the castle and you are more than welcome to stay on after your experience and view them.

Animal selection will be picked by the keepers at the time of encounter. These may be subject to change due to times of year and weather, feel free to ask about species when you book your encounter.

The encounter is 1 hour in duration
Prices are £99 for 1 person or £150 for 2 people

Note: The Family Pass is for up to 4 people and must include at least one minor.
