The TeamA little about our historyPeckforton Castle was built between 1844-1851 as a home for John Tollemache an M.P and J.P, later to become a Lord. It is the last seriously fortified home to be built in England, and is also a Grade I listed building. The Castle is the only intact medieval style castle in the country as stated by English Heritage. The Gate House Lodge at the bottom of the drive was built at the same time as the Castle and is a Grade II listed building. The forest surrounding the castle is protected, being of special scientific importance. The Castle was used as a home until the early 1950's but then fell into disrepair. During the 1990's extensive remedial work was carried out in conjunction with alterations to create hotel bedrooms. Soon after the Millennium the Castle started to host Civil wedding ceremonies and so came about the start of the wedding day experience in this fairytale venue. It was through the wedding of my eldest son Christopher to Kate that the Naylor and Carnes families came to the Castle in December 2005. Subsequently the Naylor Family pursued the purchase of the Castle and in June 2006 they became the proud owners. Since that time the Castle has been lovingly restored and now operates as 'An enchanting hotel in the heart of Cheshire'. Tony Naylor
